Michigan State University students were welcomed back to campus by K-9 Officer Tole and Chief Deputy Kevin Roman from the Dowagiac Police Department following the on-campus shooting.

Students in assistant professor Simone Peinkofer's class took part in a scavenger hunt that included snapping a photo with Officer Tole.The students figured out"he is really a good friend once they gave [him] treats," Roman noted.

"It's pretty easy for him to just be there as comfort and support for the kids [so they're] not reminded ofMichigan State University closed most of its campus at night following a mass shooting that left three students dead. While Deputy Chief Roman said that he did not know what to expect, he was grateful to be able to be there for the students.
