The Simpsons Season 35’s Best Episodes Highlight Marge Marge’s Underrated Status Makes Her Stories Stronger Although Marge may not seem like the most bold or proactive of the show’s main characters, “Night of the Living Wage” proves that season 35 is maximizing Marge’s potential through unexpected storylines. After two seasons of solid improvements, The Simpsons is finally excelling again because Marge’s role in the show has now started playing to her strengths.
Homer’s villainy gives Marge time to shine as a main character, brings back Homer’s relatable flaws without turning him into an unrepentant jerk, and provides him with redemptive moments that give him a meaningful arc. Similarly, episode 13 made Marge its villain since this meant that her eventual apology to Bart and reconciliation with Luanne Van Houten felt earned.
