The new Spider-Verse 2 trailer has revealed that the film features another recreation of the Spider-Man pointing meme, and it should be the last.

The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse includes a new version of the popular Spider-Man pointing meme scene, and it has already aged poorly. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse continues the story of the young Miles Morales, who has now grown to be his world's protector as Spider-Man.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The new Spider-Man: Across the Spide-Verse trailer focused on Miles' adventure throughout the wider Spider-Verse in the sequel, showing new looks at some of the several multiverse versions of Spider-Man that will be present in the movie. The trailer also featured a callback to a fan-favorite Spider-Man meme.

The Spider-Man Pointing Meme Has Already Been Done Twice The Spider-Man pointing meme hails from the hero's first animated series, simply titled Spider-Man. The scene comes from the second story of Spider-Man season 1, episode 19 — "Double Identity" — with the villain Charles Cameo disguising himself as Spider-Man to steal, only to be met by the real web-slinger.

The Spider-Man pointing meme's popularity has only grown over the years, which has inspired both Marvel and Sony to capitalize on its success, recreating it in two different movies. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was the first to do so, with the movie recreating the meme in a post-credits scene where Oscar Isaac's Spider-Man 2099 travels to the world of the 1967 Spider-Man animated series to recruit the show's hero.

Across The Spider-Verse Risks Being Unoriginal In Other Ways Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was impressive due to its originality. When the sequel premieres this June, the movie will not be able to bank on the originality of its predecessor. The signature Spider-Verse animation style is now slightly more familiar, if not any less beautiful.
