Mouat grad calling it a career after 10 years in professional football
BC Lions linebacker and W.J. Mouat grad Bo Lokombo has announced retirement from professional football.Lokombo was on his third stint with the Lions and returned to the team for this run in 2021.— Boseko January 21, 2025 “At 34 years old, I felt it was the right time," he said in a press release."I want to be closer to my family. — BC LIONS January 21, 2025 Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lokombo starred for years on the gridiron with the Mouat Hawks, suiting up as both linebacker, wide receiver and running back for the team. He was named the AAA eastern conference's offensive most valuable player in his senior year, racking up 1,556 rushing yards and 728 receiving yards to go with 47 tackles and four interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
He was selected by the Lions in the third round of the 2013 CFL draft, despite most experts predicting Lokombo would be scooped up by an NFL team in the 2014 draft. Across 118 total regular season games with the Lions, Lokombo climbed to 11th on the club’s all-time list with 319 defensive tackles while adding 17 sacks, eight interceptions and four forced fumbles.
