Data for Gallup's report was collected in 2023 and it surveyed 128,278 working adults in over 160 countries. The survey was carried out annually either face-to-face or via phone."Economic factors likely play a significant role in active disengagement. Job vacancies dropped by 31% in January 2024, compared with two years ago, meaning workers feel compelled to stay put because there aren't as many opportunities out there.In a sample of 10,000 individuals in the U.K. from an Understanding Society longitudinal study between 1991 and 2022, 26% of respondents said they'd like to switch jobs. However, only a quarter of those who said that actually changed employers three years later, per McKinsey.
