Nijjar was gunned down June 18 in the parking lot of the Surrey, B.C. gurdwara where he served as president.Nijjar was an organizer of a non-binding referendum on Khalistan independence. That referendum wason the same day Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Trudeau during this month’s G20 summit in New Delhi.
“It should now be clear to all Canadians that the Government of India is a terrorist state that has brazenly engaged in extrajudicial killings not only on its own soil, but also on Canadian soil.” During their meeting on the margins of the G20 summit, Modi expressed frustration over growing anti-India sentiments within Canada —promoting a July 8 rally in Toronto featuring “KILL INDIA” in large letters.
