Marshae Jones, a 27-year-old woman from Birmingham, Alabama, was reportedly indicted by a grand jury Wednesday in the fatal shooting of her unborn child, despite the fact that she didn't pull the trigger., Jones was five months pregnant when she got into a heated argument with another woman last year over the baby’s father outside a Dollar General.
The altercation led to a 23-year-old named Ebony Jemison allegedly pulling out a gun and shooting Jones right into her swelled stomach. She survived and was treated at the UAB trauma hospital, but, sadly, the scuffle resulted in a miscarriage. “The investigation showed that the only true victim in this was the unborn baby,’’ Pleasant Grove police Lt. Danny Reid told AL.com at the time of the shooting. “It was the mother of the child who initiated and continued the fight which resulted in the death of her own unborn baby.”, a grand jury indicted Jones Wednesday on a manslaughter charge, and she is now being taken to a jail in Jefferson County on a $50,000 bond.
