It's not yet known whether the baby contracted the virus in the womb or during labour, but the mother and newborn are receiving treatment separately.
A newborn baby has reportedly become the youngest person in the world to test positive for the novel coronavirus.
Once it was ascertained that both mother and baby had coronavirus, they were placed in separate hospitals overnight to receive treatment. The mother, who did not know she had coronavirus until after giving birth, was tested at North Middlesex Hospital, Enfield, according to the Sun. "The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority," the statement continued,"so in following guidance from Public Health England, we are regularly deep cleaning the areas where the patients are cared for and staff who were in close contact with these patients were advised to self-isolate."A leaked presentation reveals the document US hospitals are using to prepare for a major coronavirus outbreak. It estimates 96 million US coronavirus cases and 480,000 deaths.
