Natural gas and coal have been the primary sources of hydrogen for decades. The up-and-coming green alternative is electrolysis, which deploys renewable energy to generate electricity. When applied to water with a catalyst, the current pushes hydrogen gas out of water. The STCH system offers an alternative path to $1.00, by ditching electrolysis in favor of a heat-based chemical process.
