A new haven for child abuse victims in Collin County | Opinion
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County is reacting to region’s meteoric growth with a McKinney location.
We applaud the generosity of our neighbors that has expanded the critical work of the Children’s Advocacy Center, even as we lament the fact that its services are needed at all. The nonprofit houses counselors, family advocates and independent forensic interviewers whose sessions with children are observed by state child abuse investigators and law enforcement officers who also have offices at the center. Families pay nothing to get help.
McLean said the center’s leadership determined that a new site near U.S. Highways 75 and 380 would be ideal, and she credited several “miracles” with making it happen.
