THUNDER BAY — Hours after a two-week-old outbreak of COVID-19 on the second floor at St. Joseph's Hospital was declared over, a new outbreak has been declared. As usual, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit did not disclose the extent of the outbreak in an announcement Monday afternoon.
The Ontario health ministry prescribes that a COVID outbreak must be declared when two or more patients and/or staff in a specified area test positive within a 14-day period, if both cases could have reasonably acquired the infection in the hospital.
