Jennifer Kupcho will be playing a new course on the LPGA Tour for the Chevron...

Jennifer Kupcho won the 2022 Chevron Championship and the Dinah Shore Trophy at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort in Rancho Mirage, California.Depending on tee box location, a reachable in two shots par-5 finishing hole could set up a dramatic finish on Sunday. An eagle could be in play on the 525-yard No. 18 hole, which should have a good buildup from the 160-yard par-3 No. 17.hole played around 646 yards and on occasion played a significant role in determining that year’s champion.

“I think, when they were choosing a golf course when we were coming over here, that was one of the big considerations, like trying to have that kind of feel or a potential to grow that hole that way,” Lydia Ko said. “I think it’s a really beautiful hole.” In winning the 2015 Chevron Championship on the Dinah Shore Course, Brittany Lincicome hit a 5-iron from 190 yards for her second shot that resulted in a 10-foot eagle putt, forcing a playoff with Stacy Lewis. Six years earlier Lincicome hit a hybrid from 210 yards to within four feet to set up an eagle for a one-shot win over Cristie Kerr and Kristy McPherson.

“I love a par-5 finishing hole,” Ko said. “It can really put everybody that’s only like a couple shots away coming down the stretch, put them all in play. Whereas, if it’s a tricky par 4 or something, it might not necessarily work out that way.”Being a resident of Florida, Nelly Korda is familiar with Bermuda grass. It’s the surface she will be playing on this week on the Nicklaus Course. With the par-72 layout set to play around 6,800 yards, that only adds to her comfort zone.

Korda’s major championship win at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga., was contested on a lengthy course, as well as being contested on Bermuda. After playing 18 holes on Monday practicing, and again on Tuesday, Korda said the Nicklaus layout, consisting of TifEagle Bermuda on the greens, and 419 Bermuda on the fairway and in the rough, suits her golf game. Come tournament day, the greens will likely play faster, depending on weather conditions.
