There are many potential reasons as to why millennial work engagement is so low, but there are some of the biggest ones:Impatience and frustration because they want career advancement in months vs. years But based on my experience working with hundreds of millennial patients, the biggest reason is that the realities of the workplace didn't match their expectations. If you're a millennial who falls under this category, here's my advice:Almost everyone I know, regardless of their generation, has worked a job they hated. It's essentially a right of passage into adulthood.

In order to balance the two, work on holding your standards in a high place, while not expecting those standards to be met 100% of the time. It's all about control ― and in this case, the only things within your control are the standards you set for yourself and for those around you.prioritizing purpose over paycheckBut before you decide to quit and start applying to different jobs, take some time to figure out what you really value and what kind of impact you want to have.
