A loaded 2023 GMC Canyon costs nearly $70,000.
. The last Colorado ZR2 was one of our favorite trucks, and the new one might be even better. It has better approach and departure angles, reworked control arms, electronically locking differentials, and 33-inch mud-terrain tires. It also has a price tag that'll make you sweat, assuming you go for the loaded GMC version. The Canyon AT4X, which is largely the same as the Colorado ZR2, starts at $56,995 with the required destination charges.
Most of those options are bundled into the $9295 Edition 1 Package. It includes an off-road bumper, a front grille light bar, underbody cameras, a performance skid plate, accessory switches, wiring for external lighting, an upgraded tire pressure monitoring system, beadlock-capable wheels, re-configurable bed rails, and a winch. The price tag is serious, but the type of buyer who needs this stuff was going to spend five figures in the aftermarket anyway.
Add in the $1000 sunroof, the $50 red seatbelts, the $849 bed-mounted audio system, and the $645 Volcanic Red Rricoat paint and your total is $68,834. Check off every dealer accessory—like cargo lighting, tonneau covers, and the off-road recovery kit—and the Canyon can crest $70,000. That's a big number for a mid-size truck and deep into full-size truck territory. But we'd take the last-generation ZR2 over most full-size off-road trucks. Of course, the best versions of the F-150 or Silverado are also even more expensive. We'll have to see if it's worth it when we drive the new Canyon AT4X and Colorado ZR2 in 2023.
