Reporter Chelsey Gould reflects on her time living in Truro and her passion for celebrating Nova Scotia
I know of students and workers who barely explore the area they live in and leave with missed opportunities. If I’m not working, I’m looking for any road I haven’t biked on yet; more trails to hike; community events to experience. My time falling in love with the community brought me to a point where I could picture myself settling down if my professional aspirations managed to align with an opportunity here.
Lead editor Richard MacKenzie with reporters Chelsey Gould and Brendyn Creamer, who operate the Truro News and report for Colchester County. - Joey Smith One thing I can say with absolute certainty is that the people of Colchester County have brilliant stories that are absolutely worth celebrating. SaltWire, with its Truro News publication, is carring on a legacy that started in 1891 of sharing stories in Colchester County.
There are several reasons why I am leaving journalism to start my career in communications and marketing – at the end of the day, my decision is one that I have made for myself. I believe in sharing local stories and promoting wonderful work and opportunities in the Maritimes, and that is what I am continuing to do. My next chapter involves an exciting opportunity at, a popular open-air museum situated near Fredericton.
No matter what career I am in, celebrating community is always at the heart of what I do. I am so honoured and grateful for the experience Colchester County has given me.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years. Our SaltWire team is always watching out for the place we call home.
