Now in the defence portfolio, Minister Bill Blair has made some changes to the office lineup, with 14 confirmed staff on board, including Renée Filiatrault, who's returned as an adviser for culture change. Taras Zalusky, who’d been chief of staff to now-Treasury Board President Anita Anand in her previous capacity as defence minister prior to the July 26 cabinet shuffle, has stayed on to continue running the office under Blair, as previously reported.

Roughly three years later, after Blair was sworn into cabinet for the first time as then-minister for border security and organized crime reduction, Barrack landed the role of director of operations in Blair’s new office, and he’s worked for the minister in every portfolio he’s held since. Working under Barrack is senior parliamentary affairs adviser Gwendolyn Culver.
