At about 7:30 p.m., a body was recovered approximately 65 feet offshore, police said. The body was later identified as Jang, whose cause of death has yet to be determined by the local medical examiner’s office, according to the release. “There is some evidence of alcohol involved, certainly from witnesses and talking with things like that,” the chief told WMUR-TV. “Again, that's all part of our investigation. We did receive an anonymous email this morning through the college that there may be some hazing involved, so we certainly will look into that aspect, too.”, Jang was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering and biomedical engineering at Dartmouth College.
Dartmouth College did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment on Jang’s death and the alleged hazing incident.
