Luckily there are plenty of places in the Chicago area making it easier to celebrate, whether you’re hosting a big gathering at home or are just seeking out the comforting flavors of brisket, matzo ball soup and macaroons.

The Jewish holiday of Passover celebrates the exodus from Egypt with storytelling, prayer, wine and foods representing the suffering experienced in bondage, the miracles that set the Jewish people free and the renewal of spring.

The traditional feast known as the Seder typically takes place the first two nights of the holiday, which runs from Friday to April 23, and preparing for it can be a lot of work. Be sure to make your plans soon, as many meals must be reserved well in advance. The restaurant’s River North, Streeterville and Fulton Market locations offer a to-go menu for $53 including house-made matzo, chopped liver, gefilte fish, slow-braised short rib with sherry jus, potato pancakes and flourless chocolate cake. Orders must be placed at least a day before for pickup from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
