KARACHI: The Northern Bypass Cattle Market continues to attract a large number of buyers as it enters its 19th day. The arrival and sale of sacrificial animals are in full swing, with budget-friendly yet strong animals from Karachi’s Afghan Basti stealing the spotlight.
A group of traders from Afghan Basti has established a joint stall featuring a diverse range of livestock including Sahiwal, Cholistani, Brahman, pink, and Sindhi breeds. A livestock trader Haji Muhammad said these animals were carefully selected from various cities in Punjab and brought to Karachi to cater to local demand. Special attention is being drawn to pink Kamori and Pateri breed goats brought in from Sanghar and Naushero Feroze, which are reportedly in high demand.A black goat named “Pehlwan Babloo” from Sanghar, whose owner claims to have spent 12 months raising and caring for it. Goat Trader Ali Chandio shared that he initially brought 35 goats to the market and has already sold three. He has placed an order for 200 more due to rising demand.First-time participant Muhammad Umar, also a trader, said he has animals priced between PKR 300,000 to 500,000. Buyers and visitors at the market have praised the availability of healthy, well-breed animals at reasonable prices. As the Eid-ul-Adha season draws closer, the cattle market is bustling with increasing numbers of cows, bulls, goats, calves, and even camels.
