Delivering a speech at the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in Riyadh on Wednesday, the Crown Prince expressed strong support for regional peace, calling for a lasting resolution to the longstanding disputes between the two nations. The Crown Prince emphasized that the GCC is committed to fostering stability in the region, extending his calls for peace beyond the subcontinent to include the ongoing conflict in Gaza. “We welcome the ceasefire between Pakistan and India,” said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and added. “I will also welcome the resolution of their disputes, and commend the efforts of US President Trump in seeking peace in South Asia.” His remarks came as President Trump, speaking at the Saudi-US Investment Forum, reiterated his hope that Pakistan and India would uphold the ceasefire agreement."I believe it is in the best interests of both nations to focus on commerce rather than conflict," Trump stated, urging both countries to set aside differences and prioritize economic collaboration. Trump also acknowledged the positive role Pakistan had played in combating terrorism, particularly noting its cooperation in capturing a key ISIS terrorist responsible for the deaths of US military personnel. “Pakistan’s cooperation has been invaluable in the fight against terrorism,” Trump remarked. President Trump stressed that trade, not conflict, should be the path forward for both Pakistan and India. “There is more to gain through commerce than by resorting to nuclear missiles,” he said. His comments echoed a broader call for peace and stability in the region, where tensions have long simmered. While discussing US-Pakistan relations, Trump highlighted the successful collaboration between the two countries in counterterrorism efforts. He also pointed out that despite geopolitical differences, the potential for economic growth through trade remains a more constructive avenue for both nations. During his visit, Trump also took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Saudi Arabia. Reflecting on his past visits, he praised King Salman as a"great personality" and recalled the generosity shown to him during his previous visit eight years ago. Trump’s visit to Riyadh is seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen U.S.-Saudi relations, with both sides keen to deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including energy, defence, and trade."The ties between the US and Saudi Arabia are the bedrock of our prosperity and security," Trump said, adding that multiple historic agreements were signed during the visit. Trump praised Saudi Arabia as “the greatest nation in the world”, lauding Saudi Arabia’s leadership, economic transformation, and growing role on the world stage. “You are among the most prosperous nations in the world,” he told the audience, adding, “Riyadh will become a global business hub. The future of the Middle East begins here.” Trump heaped special praise on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, calling him a tireless leader. “He works hard — I don’t think he even sleeps at night,” the president said, crediting both King Salman and the Crown Prince with leading a “remarkable and profound transformation in the region.”Posted 07:05 PM, 12 May, 2025Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed Tuesday to deepen ties with Latin America and condemned"bullying" in a thinly veiled swipe at the United States, ...Posted 11:20 AM, 13 May, 2025
