In the clip, a Florida highway patrol officer can be heard saying that he’s heard people refusing to wear seat belts because they are “uncomfortable, wrinkle their clothes, and because they aren’t cool.” Basically video proof that Florida has always been Florida.
Looking back, it’s sort of crazy how people felt about wearing seatbelt, a device that could literally save their lives. When used properly, seatbelts reduce motor vehicle fatalities by half,. People who choose not to wear a seatbelt are 30 times more likely to be ejected from a car if they experience a crash.
I’d hesitate to think of any parent who would put their child into a car without a seatbelt, yet they continue to actively protest them wearing a mask.
