Khyber Medical University bans ‘intimate relationships’ between faculty and students
Khyber Medical University has imposed a ban on ‘intimate relationships’ between staff members and students in line with the policy of the Higher Education Commission, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Dr. Brekhna Jamil, the chairperson of KMU’s harassment inquiry committee, issued a notification outlining potential penalties for violators including oral or written reprimands, dismissal, suspension, expulsion, fines, withholding degrees, disciplinary probation, canceling professional licenses, and other sanctions as deemed necessary. “These relationships pose conflicts of interest, compromise professional judgment, and risk the credibility of the institution. The individuals involved in such relationships should declare it,” she said. KMU maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance against all forms of harassment and is closely monitoring several senior staff members who have received final warnings.
