Two police officers, Constable Waheedullah Khan and Constable Noorullah Khan, were martyred during the exchange of fire, the channel reported. According to security sources, the operation targeted militant hideouts in the area and was launched as part of ongoing efforts to counter militant activities and improve security in the region.
Among those killed were identified as Zamri Noor, a key militant commander accused of spreading fear and unrest in the area, and Abdullah Saeed, who was also a senior militant figure. Funeral prayers for the two officers were offered at Police Lines Bannu with official honours. The ceremony was attended by senior civil and military officials, local elders and a large number of residents who paid tribute to the fallen officers.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies said joint operations against militant groups would continue as part of broader efforts to eliminate terrorism and maintain peace and stability in the region.
