The letter and Meghan’s recent interview with journalist Tom Bradby in which she was asked about her physical and mental health and if she was okay given the media scrutiny and being new mom, is a reminder of the impact harmful words have on all women.
Labour MP Holly Lynch posted the letter on Twitter Tuesday morning. “As women MPs of all political persuasions, we wanted to express our solidarity with you in taking a stand against the often distasteful and misleading nature of the stories printed in a number of our national newspapers concerning you, your character and your family,” the letterPrince Harry has denounced the media’s coverage of Meghan since their relationship became public at the end of October 2016.
The media has always been a sensitive topic for Prince Harry and Prince William because their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car crash in 1997 after the car was chased by the paparazzi. Prince Harry hasthat he blames the media. “I think one of the hardest things to come to terms with is the fact that the people who chased her into the tunnel were the same people who were taking photographs of her while she was still dying in the backseat of the car,” he said in a 2017 BBC.
