Holding a joint media briefing in Islamabad, they said the government is fully cognizant of its responsibilities and a committee has been formed to review and address the issue of missing persons. Law Minister said the Armed Forces and the nation have rendered immense sacrifices in fight against terrorism. He said the matter of missing persons was taken up during PPP govt in 2011 and Commission had been formed to address the issue. He said ten thousand and two hundred cases were presented before Commission which addressed and resolved most of the cases and there is only 23% pendency of cases. Azam Nazir Tarar said the issue of missing persons is also linked to terrorism in the country so this issue is complicated one and cannot be resolved overnight. Information Minister Atta Tarar also said that the commission of inquiry on enforced disappearance was formed in 2011. He said over 7500 cases of the missing persons have been resolved and only 23% cases of missing persons are pending.He said Pakistan’s potential and relevance is being recognized internationally and the Government is restoring diplomatic ties with brotherly countries.
