Editor's note: The following contains spoilers for Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias.Sweet Magnolias has dropped its second season on Netflix. The television series is based on the 11-book series by Sherryl Woods and stars JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliot, and Heather Headley as the titular trio of best friends, navigating through drama one margarita at a time. The first season ended with the cliffhanger of who else was in the car accident with Kyle.
If you thought things couldn’t go from bad to worse, a superfan of Cal’s finds him at Sullivan’s; he begins harassing customers and Cal himself to let him fight for him in order to help get his job back. In Cal’s defense, he does calmly try to get the man to leave. Once the fan tries to reach Maddie, Cal punches him and begins to beat him up as the police show up. At least, Cal has an excellent lawyer on his side.
Who is Dana Sue’s Enemy? During the season finale, a mysterious yet confident blonde strolls into Serenity with mayhem on her mind. Wynn Everett plays a woman from the Sweet Magnolias’ past who has a vendetta against Dana Sue. She bumps into Annie and insults her for looking like someone Dana Sue would “spit out.” She also insinuates that her mother is someone who wrecks lives . Later, she is caught on camera slashing the tires of one of Sullivan's vans.
Jackson and Annie enjoy their summer of new love until it comes crashing down. Being one of the mayor’s kids, Jackson and his sister Nellie are forbidden from being seen with anyone connected with the Sweet Magnolias, including their children. Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue are the reason why the recall election is threatening their father’s job in the first place. Nellie reluctantly obeys her mom Jackson, however, declares to Annie that he has no intention of staying away from her.
