Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held a key meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday, where the two leaders discussed recent contacts made in light of the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the sources said the meeting covered the country’s current political and economic landscape, as well as issues relating to internal and external security. During the meeting, Bilawal briefed the Prime Minister on the diplomatic engagements and consultations undertaken following the regional unrest. He also provided feedback from the Foreign Ministry’s recent briefings to members of the diplomatic committee. On May 17, 2025, PM Shehbaz contacted Bilawal via telephone and formally requested him to lead a high-level diplomatic mission to Europe. The goal of the mission is to present Pakistan’s stance on Indian aggression to key international stakeholders. Bilawal accepted the assignment and will head a diplomatic committee comprising senior figures, including Hina Rabbani Khar, Khurram Dastgir, and Jalil Abbas Jilani. Confirming the development on his official X account, Bilawal expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s interests on the global stage. “In these testing times, we will stand united and represent our country with clarity and resolve,” Bilawal stated. It is also worth noting that on May 22, 2025, US Ambassador Natalie Baker called on Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Zardari House. During the meeting, bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States were discussed. Bilawal highlighted the important role played by former US President Donald Trump in mediating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India following a series of missile strikes. He emphasised Pakistan’s desire to maintain and strengthen trade ties with the United States and voiced support for US-led peace initiatives aimed at promoting regional stability in South Asia.Posted 01:09 PM, 23 May, 2025
