Dallas Police identified the officer as 58-year-old Christopher Jackson. Chief Eddie Garcia said he had recently turned in his retirement papers.
DPD said that Officer Christopher Jackson, a 31-year veteran of the force who was assigned to Southwest Patrol, died due to a medical condition.
An officer assist call was issued at an apartment complex on Duncanville Road in West Oak Cliff just after 4 p.m.An apartment employee and officers performed CPR while waiting for Dallas Fire Rescue to respond.On Friday Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said the officer had just recently handed in his retirement papers.
