Talal Fouani, left, was on bail for organized crime and money laundering charges when he was shot while sitting in his parked Bentley outside his southwest Calgary home. Fouani's wife, Nakita Baron, 31, was killed in what police have called a targeted attack. No arrests have been made.

Talal Fouani pleaded guilty to organized crime charges last year. He has yet to be sentenced. Before that happens, his new lawyer will make a Jordan application, asking the judge to stay the charge due to unreasonable delays in the case. A Calgary man who pleaded guilty to money laundering in connection with a $55-million drug trafficking investigation will ask a judge to stay his charges because of the delay in the case. The case never made it to sentencing.

Defence lawyer Greg Dunn then took over Fouani's case and the lawyers, judge and accused met in court on Feb. 5 for a progress report.Down to 2 applications At a case management meeting in March, Dunn told the court he was abandoning all applications but two.
