31 civilians martyred in Indian missile strikes on Pakistan, military confirms
ISLAMABAD At least 31 civilians, including women and children, were martyred and over 70 injured after Indian forces launched missile and drone strikes on multiple civilian areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab during the night between May 6 and 7, the Pakistan military confirmed.
Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations , Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, condemned the strikes as “blatant terrorism,” saying Indian forces deliberately targeted civilian neighbourhoods and mosques in an unprovoked act of aggression. “Was a seven-year-old child a terrorist? This was a massacre of innocents,” he said, referencing the death of Irtaza Abbas, whose funeral was attended by the country’s top leadership. The six targeted sites included mosques in Ahmadpur East, Muzaffarabad, Kotli and Muridke, and a dispensary in Shakargarh. The deadliest attack was in Ahmadpur East, where 10 members of one family were killed. In response, the Pakistan Armed Forces shot down five Indian jets and destroyed several Indian military posts along the Line of Control , the ISPR said. No Pakistani military personnel or aircraft were harmed. Gen Chaudhry warned that India’s reckless strikes endangered international flights, and called on the global community to take notice. He reaffirmed that Pakistan reserves the right to self-defence and will respond with strength and unity.
