The girl was with her family in a vehicle that was traveling south on Interstate 880 in Fremont when she was struck by a bullet, according to aThe California Highway Patrol said they were called at 6:40 p.m. about a freeway shooting. Responding officers found a vehicle on southbound I-880 in Milpitas, Officer Andrew Barclay, a CHP spokesperson, said. The parents in the car said their daughter was struck by gunfire.No arrests were made.
On the same evening in Fremont, police said they responded to a report of gunfire on the 37000 block of Fremont Boulevard at 6:37 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect vehicle had already taken off, the Fremont Police Department said in a news release. There were no injuries.
