Duchene isn’t far removed from the best season of his career. In 2021-22, Duchene scored 43 goals and notched 43 assists, both career-best marks, in 78 regular season games. That was the first time Duchene had hit the 40-goal plateau.
He’d only scored 30 goals in a season twice before. The first time was in 2015-16 when he scored 30 with the Avalanche, then he scored 31 in 2018-19 when splitting time between the Blue Jackets and Senators.Despite making the playoffs six times, Duchene has never gone far in the postseason. The 2018-19 season with Columbus was the first and only time Duchene made it out of the first round.His lack of a deep playoff run isn’t for lack of his own production.
