Revenge of the Sith is approaching its 20th anniversary, meaning the prequels might benefit from a special edition, by none other than George Lucas.
George Lucas established a tradition of releasing "Special Editions" of the Star Wars movies, and Lucasfilm should follow his lead by updating the prequel trilogy - and restoring several deleted scenes. In 1997, George Lucas released the first of his Special Editions, re-releases of the original trilogy that featured creative updates and improved special effects.
This scene was shot without a blue-screen. This means that, other than doing some touch-ups, it would be easy to incorporate Anakin and Padmé’s time on Naboo into the movie. It would also be great to flesh out Padmé’s background a little more, introducing members of her family, helping viewers to connect with them. This is particularly important given Padmé’s children - Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa - would only meet their family on their mother's side decades later.
This would also help cement the Rebel Alliance as part of Padmé's legacy in the Star Wars galaxy. Padmé's role as a senator was largely absent from the movie, with Star Wars: The Clone Wars doing a much better job demonstrating her political skills.
