So fresh fruit and veg might not actually be better than frozen?

is a term used in the wellness industry to describe sugar naturally present in food, rather than being refined or added as part of food manufacturing, so foods like honey, brown rice syrup, maple syrup, agave nectar and coconut sugar fall into this category.

Although these sugars can seem healthier than refined sugar, it's not necessarily a "healthy sugar replacement". The World Health Organization and the UK government recommend limiting free sugar intake to less than 5% of daily energy, and this includes any sugar that is " added to foods by the manufacturer, cook or consumer, plus sugars naturally present in honey, syrups and unsweetened fruit juicesTo the body, sugar is sugar, and the reason these foods are sweet is that they contain simple sugars which the body breaks down and absorbs in the form of simple sugars — just as it does with refined sugar. While unrefined sugars can contain more nutrients, the amount is usually insignificant when we take into account portion sizes .

So refined and unrefined sugars are neither 'bad', but we should treat them in the same way and reduce our intake overall and when we do choose to include them - choose the sugars we enjoy. No carbs before Marbs, right?
