A four-year-old boy was killed in a farming accident on Monday in Lancaster County, according to West Hempfield Township police.
The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. at a farm on Kames Hill Road near Old Chickies Hill Road in Columbia.
Police said a preliminary investigation determined that a 'youth farm helper' was moving large bales of hay to a barn and, while maneuvering equipment, accidentally struck the child. Police said first responders found the boy with severe injuries, and he was taken to Hershey Medical Center, but he died from his injuries.An investigation by West Hempfield Township Police, the coroner and the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office is ongoing.
