While that’s kind of annoying, especially after a teaser campaign that overstayed its welcome, Honda hasIt enables users to check out the car’s color palette that includes Rallye Red, Boost Blue, Crystal Black Pearl, Sonic Grey Pearl, and Championship White. The latter color is exclusive to the Civic Type R, but the model looks rather fetching in Crystal Black Pearl and Boost Blue.
While the company has been coy on specifics, the “all-new Honda Civic Type R is the most powerful model in Type R’s 30-year history, and has been engineered from the ground up to deliver thrilling performance with an addictive driving experience – both on road and on the racetrack.” Power will be provided by an “even more powerful and responsive version” of their turbocharged 2.
Honda will release additional details this fall, but the company’s Japanese website lists some equipment. In particular, it says the model will have an active exhaust, an aluminum hood, and 19-inch aluminum wheels that are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. They’ll be joined by Brembo front brakes and a limited slip differential.
Moving into the cabin, Japanese buyers will find an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9-inch infotainment system. The Type R also sports an aluminum shift knob, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a LogR data logger. They’re joined by a drive mode selector with Sport, Comfort, and R settings as well as a new Individual mode.
