“It was tremendously more productive this time,” Dolter said. “During the February hunt, there were probably one or two sites that were productive as opposed to this time around where we had results on almost every site … not all of them, but almost all. “We’re looking at potentially expanding the sites as long as we make sure they’re safe. We’re trying to get a little more of the urban deer. Mostly where we’ve been doing it, our sites have been a little more on the periphery of town, so we’re looking to get a little more in there, as long as we can do it safely.over the spring and summer so we can be ready to go in mid-October if we can. Have everything in place and ready to work.
“Having taken 39 animals this year, people are going to see an effect. I don’t know the proportion of does to bucks but with a number of does taken, I think the ratio they use is, with every doe taken – they produce on a regular basis one and a half offspring - so there is a multiplier effect there. Every doe we take is actually two and a half deer that are taken out of play.”
