CHEK raises closes to $100k for holiday hamper drop-offs and close to 3,000 and toys.
The 31st Annual CHEK Drive-Thru was a huge success Friday night, surpassing last year’s giving by raising close to $100,000 in just two hours. Additionally, close to 3,000 toys were dropped off from generous viewers across the Island.
All of the donations were loaded into the back of Salvation Army trucks and unpacked later that night. The donations of toys, food and funds will go to supporting neighbouring homes in Greater Victoria this holiday season. Many hands contributed to the event including volunteers who answered phones, received donations, loaded trucks as well as many behind-the-scenes elves who contributed to the night’s success. At around 9 p.m. Friday, the Salvation Army unloaded the trucks of nearly 3,000 donations from the 31st Annual CHEK Drive Thru.
CHEK will continue receiving donations for the upcoming week from Monday, Dec. 9 to Friday, Dec. 13. during business hours, at 780 Kings Road. Accepted donations include new toys and clothes, canned food and cheques.
