Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Stranger Things may have a youthful cast, but that doesn't mean they avoid swearing, and some characters have even dropped the F-bomb. Despite gratuitous usage of a range of expletives, the Hawkins gang largely avoids using the F-word as the kids prefer to use the less aggressive alternatives.

Stranger Things has only featured characters using the F-word three times during its run, and one of those instances doesn't even finish the word. It's also surprising that all three instances happen in Stranger Things season 3, despite the mistaken belief that it has been used throughout the series.

3 Will Byers - Season 3, Episode 3, "The Case of the Missing Lifeguard" The first use of the F-bomb in Stranger Things comes from one of the most unlikely characters, Will Byers. Quiet, shy, and generally courteous and soft-spoken Will lets out an angry and pain-filled "F***!" as he tears down Castle Byers after getting into a fight with his friends Mike and Lucas.

2 Billy Hargrove - Season 3, Episode 4, "The Sauna Test" In the very next episode, the most violent and frightening use of the F-word is by Hawkins bad boy, Billy Hargrove. Having been possessed by the Mind Flayer/Vecna, Billy tries to manipulate the gang and his younger sister Max when they trap him in the sauna.

1 Max Mayfield - Season 3, Episode 6, "E Pluribus Unum" The most recent use of the F-word in Stranger Things isn't actually a complete swear as the character is cut off. Max Mayfield, younger stepsister of Billy Hargrove and one of the newest members of the Hawkins gang, almost drops the F-bomb as they enter a hospital room where Nancy is being attacked by a grotesque Mind Flayer quadruped.
