The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting involving Fort Collins Police officers early Friday morning.
The shooting happened early Friday as deputies were trying to stop a suspect vehicle driving the wrong way, the sheriff's office said.On Thursday, at about 11 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services got information about a vehicle in the area wanted for a possible kidnapping out of Weld County, according to the sheriff's office.
After 1 a.m., a deputy used ties spikes at the intersection of Horsetooth Road and College Avenue, the sheriff's office said. The driver who was traveling east in the westbound lanes, drove at the deputy, according to the sheriff's office. The deputy fired his weapon and the suspect drove away along Horsetooth Road, the release said.
The driver of the suspect vehicle drove away from the scene, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies again deployed tire spikes near Shields Street and Davidson Drive, the release said. The vehicle swerved to avoid the spikes and crashed, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
