One Piece season 1 consists of eight episodes, and it covers the first 95 chapters of the manga. Considering how many characters and locations the manga deals with from the start, changes from the source material were expected.
24 Shanks Is Older During The Execution Flashback Gold Roger’s execution happened 22 years before the main events of One Piece. While Netflix’s One Piece keeps that same timeline, Shanks is significantly older in the execution flashback than his manga/anime counterpart. Therefore, present-day Shanks is older in the anime than he is in the manga. 23 Shanks Says He Is Going After The One Piece In the One Piece manga, Shanks tells Luffy that his crew has been at Windmill Village for too long.
19 Luffy & Koby’s “Fight” Doesn’t Happen Koby has a bigger role in this portion of the story in the live-action show compared to the manga. While Koby joining the Marines at Shells Town matches the source material, the “fight” between him and Luffy does not happen. Instead, Koby stays with the Marines and is later interrogated by Garp.
15 Luffy Is Smarter Than He Should Be Iñaki Godoy’s Luffy matched the energy and the kind-hearted aspect of the character. The One Piece live-action also captured Luffy’s humor. That said, Luffy is smarter in the Netflix adaptation than he is in the manga. While Godoy’s Luffy was still spontaneous and naïve, the character seemed more mature and intelligent compared to manga Luffy.
