Americans head to the polls in November for what’s expected to be one of the most consequential presidential elections in U.S. history. CBC’s Paul Hunter breaks down four things to watch for as the high-stakes campaign unfolds over the next 10 months.
In early March, thousands of residents across the state will head to the polls to vote in the primary election.
In 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered the Alabama Supreme court to draw new Alabama congressional map with greater representation for Black voters. In October, federal judges selected new congressional lines for Alabama to give the state a second district where Black voters comprise a substantial portion of the electorate.

Visit the Alabama Secretary of State's website for sample ballots for every county in the state.Key local races in Coffee CountyThere are 38,140 registered voters in Coffee County eligible to vote in the March 5 primary elections, according to Coffee County Probate Judge Jodee Thompson. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the 27 voting places throughout the county.
Dale County is also among the South Alabama counties that had a court-mandated redrawing of district lines which moved Dale County from District 2 into District 1. On both the Dale County ballot GOP and Democrat ballots is proposed local amendment No. 1 “to allow mayors to participate in the Employees’ Retirement System under certain conditions.”
Alabama polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Anyone who attempts to join the voting line after 7 p.m. shall not be permitted to vote.
