The Padres have World Series expectations after a stirring run to the NLCS and an offseason of spending more big money, but the Dodgers are not going away.

Shortstop Gavin Lux is out for the year. All-Star right-hander Tony Gonsolin is on the 15-day IL with a sprained left ankle. Right-hander Blake Treinen is on the 60-day IL recovering from right shoulder surgery. Right-hander Daniel Hudson is making progress. All-Star right-hander Walker Buehler could possibly return late in the season. The team lost a big bat in All-Star Trea Turner, who went to Philadelphia. Also gone are stalwart Justin Turner and former MVP Bellinger.
