With the first overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles have selected Jackson Holliday. The son of former MLB player Matt Holiday has a big bat and is expected to stay at shortstop as a pro, according to danconnolly2016.
"He’s a five-tool shortstop left-handed bat," said Orioles GM Mike Elias. "We project him to remain as a shortstop defensively. But he does it all. He throws. He’s a plus runner. He’s gonna hit and hit for power. He’s got the best swing in the draft or one of the best swings in the draft. He’s got everything in front of him."selected Druw Jones with the No. 2 pick. The son of Andruw Jones, Druw attended Wesleyan School in Norcross, Ga.
Jones, 18, led Wesleyan to the Georgia Class A private school state title. He also won Gatorade Georgia high school player of the year honors.
