The ‘Celebration of Life’ memorial service will remember the lives of basketball great Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, who died in a helicopter crash last month.
: More than 88,000 people reportedly applied for tickets to the event within the first few hours of them going on sale. They ranged from $24.02 to, with the proceeds going to the Bryant's Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation. In the wake of the fatal helicopter crash, as many as 350,000 people visited the centre to pay their respects, and to lay flower bouquets, jerseys, pictures and shoes.
: The 2/24/20 date was chosen to commemorate Kobe and Gianna’s jersey numbers, as well as the length of time that Kobe played for the Lakers, and the years he was with his wife, Vanessa.: Bryant and his daughter were two of nine people who were killed in the helicopter crash on January 26.
