Lauren Steinberg was tired of living in a reality where such a complex human organ rarely received the attention, care, or praise that it deserved, so she founded Queen V, a feminine wellness brand.
“I was mortified,” exclaimed Steinberg. “Embarrassed. Especially going to a feminine hygiene aisle for the first time.” Longing for a brand that stood out on the shelves and was much more approachable, she simply wished the conversation surrounding feminine hygiene could be easier. “The more people talking about feminine hygiene, the better,” continued Steinberg, “the less taboo it all becomes.”
Armed with very little business knowledge, but incredible vision , the millennial entrepreneur quit her desk job and set out to create a fun, accessible feminine hygiene brand that would be created by women, for women. Steinberg hoped to help women happily heal, maintain, and enjoy their V’s, but she knew she needed a lot of help.
“For me, I loved taking a bath on Sunday nights. That was like my favorite thing,” Steinberg mentioned of one of her early ideas for creating a pH-balanced bubble bath. “I would be getting these horrible infections and I never knew what it was,” she continued. “It turned out that the bubble bath that I was using had heavy fragrance and glycerin in it.
Steinberg quotes her authenticity, excitement, and honest belief behind what her brand could offer as some of the main reasons why she was able to get a major retailer like Wal-Mart to buy in without the existence of any tangible products. “It was a little bit of luck, a little bit of right place, right time, right story, right products, right founder, and they really wanted to take a chance on me.
