Chicago police said 31 people were shot in 26 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Two more people were killed in separate shootings early Monday morning.
The victims included 13-year-old and 17-year-old boys killed hours apart between late Friday and early Saturday morning.
Just after midnight on Saturday, the 17-year-old boy was shot in the 700 block of West 50th Street. A witness at that scene heard multiple shots fired outside their home and found the victim unresponsive. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 22-year-old man was killed inside a residence in the 1900 block of South Homan Avenue. He was sitting inside an apartment at around 5:15 p.m. Saturday when an unknown person entered and shot him in the back and chest. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.
Two people were shot, one fatally, inside a building just after 11 p.m. Saturday. The victims — a 27-year-old man and 25-year-old woman — were inside a third floor hallway when shots were fired. The man was pronounced dead on scene with a gunshot wound to the back. The woman was hospitalized in fair condition with a gunshot wound to her leg.
