Two men are dead after San Francisco police responded to a report of an aggravated assault and fired their weapons Thursday night just a block away from UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Two men are dead after San Francisco police responded to a report of an aggravated assault and fired their weapons Thursday just a block away from UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

According to SFPD, when officers arrived around 8 p.m. near Owens and Mariposa streets they confronted two men and that's when the shooting occurred. One of the men died on scene and another was taken to Zuckerberg General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, however, he later succumbed to his injuries.SFPD says it's still trying to determine if bother men were shot by officers or if they died as a result of the reported assault.Stay with ABC7 News for the latest details on this developing story.
