Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a gang-related dispute.
The two suspects accused of killing an innocent Baytown man thought they were targeting a rival who used to live at the same apartment, according to court records.
According to a criminal complaint, both men were affiliated with local street gangs at the time of the shooting. An investigation revealed that Nunez allegedly told a friend the shooting would help him “earn status” in the gang, court records show.
