2 Alabama prep baseball stars will play in All-American Game

A pair of Alabama rising seniors are scheduled to take part in the high school All-American baseball game in Seattle. Baker right-handed pitcher Conner Gatwood and Valley left-handed pitcher Jackson Sanders are both on the National roster for the game.

Gatwood, a second-team Class 7A All-State selection, went 6-2 this year for the Hornets with a 2.75 ERA. He struck out 73 batters in 48.1 innings. At the plate, he hit .447 with 15 doubles, 39 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Sanders, a second-team Class 5A selection, hit .387 for the Rams. He had a 2.24 ERA on the mound with 51 strikeouts in 34.1 innings. He allowed just 11 earned runs. The game also will feature Noah Sheffield – son of former major leaguer Gary Sheffield – and Adrian Beltre Jr. – son of the Texas Rangers legend.There will be a high school home run derby featuring members of the All-American Game on July 8. Participants have not been announced yet.
